Our New Advisor - Matt Carpenter, CFO at Audi of America and Audi Canada

our new advisor - matt carpenter, cfo at audi of america and audi canada

We’re elated to announce a new member of the VINchain advisory board, Matt Carpenter. We couldn’t be more excited to count him among our ranks, as his depth of experience and knowledge of the automotive industry speak volumes.
Matt serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Audi of America and also serves as the CFO at Audi Canada. In 2016, Matt became the first American to be appointed to the top Audi finance position in North America. His core responsibilities include all financial planning, steering, controlling, and target achievement for Audi of America and Audi Canada.

Matt started his career at Audi more than a decade ago. From 2007 until 2011, he held the positions of Business Management Consultant and Vehicle Merchandising Manager in the Audi corporate offices in Auburn Hills, Michigan and Herndon, Virginia. Matt has largely focused on increasing U.S. sales volume while also improving company and dealer margin quality by improving the efficiency of vehicle sales programs and implementing more strategic incentive platforms. In 2011, he was appointed General Manager of Vehicle Sales and was responsible for all Audi retail sales operations (both new and pre-owned) in the United States.

In 2015, Matt began his transition to finance and held the position of General Manager of Dealer Remarketing at VW Credit, Inc. / Audi Financial Services.  In this position, Matt was responsible for the management and liquidation of the Volkswagen and Audi lease and company car portfolios (both online and physical auction channels).  Finally before his CFO appointment, Matt spent five months in 2016 in Ingolstadt, Germany on foreign assignment in Audi AG’s Controlling department.

Matt’s passion and experience in the automotive industry began at an earlier age, as a native son of Detroit, also earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Matt believes in industry transformation and executing plans to improve the customer experience and accelerate growth.

In addition to his role at Audi, Matt now serves on the VINchain advisory board. VINchain is developing a decentralized vehicle database to increase transparency between dealers and buyers in the automotive industry. Using data from VINchain, the automotive industry will be able to receive unparalleled insight into vehicle history and customer needs. The decentralized database allows users to receive accurate and transparent vehicle records from around the world.

VINchain is currently expanding and opening offices in new regions, and invites new members to join and assist in making our project a worldwide success. Partnering with global automotive leaders like Matt Carpenter is a powerful step towards revolutionizing the entire industry, and we couldn’t be happier to have Matt on the team.
